i wonder what this stupid idiot means when he wrote Of Usurpers, Negotiators and Scapegoats in that highly one-sided, prejudiced and overly biased site, Filipinovoices.com. he insinuates that there was treason involved in the peace talks. for goodness sake! and what is, according to his s.o.b. the son of a plunderer former president (fake one), and his uncle, telling the world that gen. hermogenes esperon and sec. jesus dureza should be investigated for treason?

bloggers archangelgabriel, lionofthemaze and girbaudz advance the idea that erap is the reason behind the seizure of milf’s precious and sacred sites. included among these are the heritage estates of the maguindanao royalty. erap sacrilegiously had these sites invaded because of his small brain matter and ordered soldiers to encamp upon these holy, valuable places. essentially, they say, erap is a big source of the new anger and hatred among muslims for the government.

but of course, this is notwithstanding that a highly trusted man from the camp of that former president travelled extensively to an asian muslim country and mindanao and was seen talking to people that are held by muslims in low esteem. in mindanao, that means, terrorists or with equal contempt, members of the underworld. what trusted boy was doing meeting with those ugly people, is for erap and his son, and cousin-in-law pimentel to justify when the day of reckoning comes.

i don’t personally like general esperon. but i don’t have a reason to dislike him nor be angry with him nor hate him. when i was a kid, they used to tell me the story about esperon courting my tita bai (she was not really a real aunt, but because of the closeness, i used to call her my tita. on the other hand, in mindanao, bai or ba’i — pronounced as bah-yi — is a title reserved only for royalty) espie, or as esperon is called, or boy or jun, as he known back in mindanao where he grew up with his parents and siblings, his love was spurned by my tita. when he was younger, he used to look really butt ugly, according to hearsay. my tita would run as fast as she could and espie would start stalking after her. even when he returned from his manila stint with philippine science high school and then the pma, his looks supposedly did not improve. for which reason, he tried to court some other lady aside from my tita whom he was really bewitched with. for what cause, i really don’t know. there was a lady with whom tita was friends with in our place in mindanao, though. and her name was gloria and she’s the president that stupid idiot and his bosses erap’s son and pimentel are alluding to in a fantastic choral rendition with other high pitched sopranos, as the committer of the unspeakable crime of treason. (what hogwash!)

when generals esperon and garcia joined the peace process, it was already at a well-developed stage. a large number of non-government organizations (ngos) and churches, members of the academe, media, political personalities have already been involved.

since the time salamat hashim wrote that letter to the us pres., about five years ago, the americans began their working-hard-for-the-money act to help the muslims achieve a peaceful settlement with the government. the united states institute for peace was at the center of the american government’s efforts. the legats of the us embassy busily made contacts with local muslims that could help them broker a big conference in us grounds (possibly hawai’i, california, etc. whatever) of a large group of milf and other muslim leaders and representatives of the us prexy or the man himself. in the mainland us, former ambassadors of the united states of america to the philippines were called upon to participate in the usip project to assist the philippine government and milf come to a peaceful settlement. amb. john negroponte, who was in the country recently, is a part of the group of advisers – former ambassadors to rp – that helped form the core of the usip team.

i don’t know if that big conference took place in the us. but a lot of conferences actually happened. as the usip says, it was fraught with challenges and difficulties. one of these was distrust, and i imagine it would be so.

for what it was worth, i did give advice (outside of the call of my actual vocation-profession) to my elders who were assisting in the peace process, helping the americans, and deeply involved in the entire process. i noticed at the time, i could not really talk about the thing to anyone outside of those that already knew. it was basically a very, very silent, very quiet and serious affair.

for it to be publicized, would have been the end of it all. specially the participation of uncle sam’s people’s involvement that was worth on record about one hundred fifty million pesos or three million dollars — no one could afford all that money going pffft!

however, it appears that a lot of issues are not brought to light about the peace process. now that madame president gloria has temporarily called for a halt in the peace talks, that she disbanded the peace panel, etc. for instance, aside from us amb. kristie kenney, amb. francis riccardione, and his successor on an acting basis, the charge d’ affairs, joseph mussomeli at the us embassy, the legat (legal affairs) officials, were all involved in the peace process between government and milf. this is briefly cited in a blog the nut box that even says al haj murad muhamad Ibrahim is a government agent. (well, for the nut box’s satisfaction, al haj murad muhamad did actually allow himself to become an agent of former president ramos and his handler was gen. jose almonte. at the time, when pres. ramos was ascendant and was using murad, he was docile. now that pres. ramos is gone, who did he turn to? is he now also allowing himself to be an agent again? but this time, of someone who is not in government instead? that is for you to find out.)

serious studies were made on the possibilities; prospects; and as early as 1997, the muslims, particularly those in the scholarly side of the peace talk thing, studied about land, agrarian reform particularly and found that the muslim tribal communities were sidelined in the government’s handing out of CADCs. these are the certificates of ancestral domain claims given by government to tribal peoples.
